Studio mk27 completes ‘casa vista’ as a 60m long volume
Knotted by the weakening waters of Bahia and constant action, the sea cliffs of Trancoso stand in front of attractive beaches and vivid tones. Casa Vista i Brazil with Studio MK27 located on top of one of them, a 46-meter high cliff. From the perspective of the birds, the long shot aims to frame the landscape like a wide-angle camera.
Horizontal proportions of the residential which is laid out extruding with some elemental cottages, generating a structure sixty meters long. Rooted by closed volumes at its edges, containing the master suite and the kitchen, the house opens itself to the colors that surround it through a huge widescreen span that transcends the endless blues.

a dramatic pairing of traditional material and modern strokes
Audacity the metallic structure sculpted by Studio MK27 (see more here) which enables the 45 meter long void to be balanced with the tactile organicity of the materials that cover it. The facade of this exterior structure is wrapped in slats of ash eucalyptus — reminiscent of a traditional northeastern Brazilian material made from the spindly branches of the biriba tree — that appear to grow on the facade like roots. petrified. The roof, in turn, is made of recycled wood and its tiles are handmade one by one.

Under the roof, an open-air veranda runs through the span, connecting the gardens on both sides and surrounding a lower white box. As a house within a house, this volume has three bedrooms, a small den, a bathroom, and a living room covered in perforated Viroc panels (a dense composite of wood and cement). Independent of the main structure, this inner house can open completely as the Viroc panels work as folding screens.

This loose structure and the pale material palette favor the interaction with the sunlight and the surrounding colors in a cinematic approach. The views from outside flow inside the interior spaces through soulful textures that climb and reflect light, creating a dance of light and shadows on every surface, especially through biriba arrows and perforated Viroc walls.

In a fair way, the scenery Vista House with Studio MK27 includes contrasts. Local materials and pieces of dialogue furniture with heavy structure and engineered finishes. The strong colors of nature are filtered and framed by a muted palette. Closed volumes open themselves to terraces and open air halls. Finally, precise boundaries are diluted by this permeable life.
